Who is Paul McCartney? WHAT??!!

When I was a kid, there was no internet and my Dad wouldn’t let me buy record albums or cassette tapes because he thought there was only one or two good songs and the rest were garbage (according to his limited experience with Ricky Nelson‘s work is my guess) but I found a way to find out all I could about all kinds of music (mainly my local library, flea markets and garage sales).   Then the interent happened and my first thought was, “Wow.  What a golden age of being able to find as much music as you could ever want.” But I could not have been more wrong.  Apparently, there’s a large group of people out there that have no clue who Paul McCartney is (and through logical deduction, they probably don’t know who The Beatles are.)  How is something like this possible?  How can the internet generation‘s knowledge of music be so narrow and lacking?  Sir Paul is a given.  He’s the most successful singer / songwriter of all time.  Not just of the sixties – OF ALL FREAKING TIME!  Could it be that there’s just too much information out there and the kids are closing themselves off and listening to nothing but Adele and Chris Brown?  Yikes.  No thanks.
